Evacuation and shelter-in-place orders are in place after a styrene leak at a Cleves railyard Tuesday afternoon. Officials said the railcar had stopped leaking the dangerous chemical but residents should remain out of the area.

The styrene leak from a railcar in the Cleves and Whitewater Township area has stopped, but officials said an evacuation order remains in place and roads will remain closed.

The Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency warned people in Cleves and Whitewater Township to “leave the area immediately” due to a “dangerous chemical leak” in an alert, adding that they have opened a public shelter for those fleeing.
