Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane is not expected to be available until January or February after undergoing surgery, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Sunday.

The Edmonton Oilers will be without the services of Evander Kane for a big chunk of the season. The Edmonton Oilers are going to have to make due without one of their top forwards for a significant chunk of the upcoming National Hockey League season.

Elliotte Friedman posted a tweet on Sunday confirming the successful surgery of Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane. In that tweet, the insider also offered up an approximate return date for the winger.

Kane has been one of the top power forwards in the sport when healthy and motivated. His play down the stretch after signing with the Oilers as a free agent in January 2022 was next level. He scored 22 goals in 43 regular season games and added 13 more in 15 playoff games.

After confirming he had been dealing with a laundry list of injuries that required “having a lot done,” it appears Evander Kane is on the mend.

Oilers forward Evander Kane will miss training camp and the start of the regular season following surgery for an unspecified injury, GM Stan Bowman said.

The Edmonton Oilers are looking for revenge after their brutal Game Seven loss in the Stanley Cup Final. They signed Leon Draisaitl long-term, and picked up Jeff Skinner, but are also dealing with an injury to Evander Kane.

The Oilers will be without Evander Kane "for a while" as he is set to undergo surgery for multiple injuries over the next few days.
