Six Flags announced it shut down the Kingda Ka and Green Lantern roller coasters to make way for two new rides including The Flash coaster.

Six Flags Great Adventure confirmed the long-rumored closure of two of its roller coasters, including the iconic Kingda Ka.

The park has not filed at notice with the state that the ride is shutting down, Lisa Ryan, a spokesperson for the state Department of Community Affairs, told NJ Advance Media. Theme parks are not required to submit notice of closure, they would just let the permit lapse if not opening the ride for the next season, she said.

The rumors of Kingda Ka’s closure have been swirling online for days among roller coaster enthusiasts and Six Flags fans. Park officials have been tight-lipped, neither confirming or denying the closure rumor in an statement to NJ Advance Media on Tuesday morning.
