Back in the good ol’ days of Survivor, the current players would walk into Tribal Council and take a seat. Then, and only then, host Jeff Probst would welcome the jury members to strut in and take their seats.

The show’s creators set the parameters, they throw in some advantages and twists, and they let the players run the game from there. The rules can even be bent on occasion if the castaways want to negotiate for resources.

"Disgruntled players looking to settle a score" need not apply.

Which explains why three contestants were simultaneously digging their hands into a giant bowl of peanut butter and chocolate, throwing those hands into their mouths, and then going back for more during Survivor 47's trademark auction this week.

The Survivor auction returned in Episode 8. While it’s been back for a couple of seasons now, the Season 47 auction saw the return of live grubs for the players to chow down.
