A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced a Massachusetts Air National Guard member to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to leaking highly classified military documents about the war in Ukraine.

After pleading guilty to the most consequential national security breach in years, Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira faces 15 years in prison. He leaked secret reports of the war in Ukraine on the social media platform Discord.

Prosecutors said Jack Teixeira "perpetrated one of the most significant and consequential violations of the Espionage Act in American history."

A federal judge in Boston Tuesday sentenced Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guard member who leaked classified military documents on Discord, to 15 years in prison. Teixeira, 22, was arrested in April 2023 and pleaded guilty in March to six counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information under the Espionage Act.

A former Air National Guard member will serve prison time because of his activities in a gaming-focused chat app. Jack Teixeira, who previously served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for pilfering classified documents from the Department of Defense and sharing them to a Discord server,

The former Air National Guardsman was accused of exposing details of American surveillance of adversaries and allies.
