Meghan Trainor’s cheery theme for the Today show’s fourth hour (“You better start today! Hoda and Jenna!”) only debuted in September, and will soon be out of commission. NBC settled its first Hoda Kotb predicament on Thursday with its decision to replace her on the main 7-9 a.

Craig Melvin, who has served as the de facto third co-anchor for the show for years, typically joining Kotb and co-anchor Savannah Guthrie at the anchor desk after the first half hour, though his name is not in the open and he is only typically introduced on-air briefly, will take over Jan. 13, 2024.

Craig Melvin will become the new co-anchor of NBC’s Today, following the departure of Hoda Kotb in January. The announcement was made on this morning’s broadcast. Kotb’s final day on the show will be on Jan.
