VHP calls on Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of allegations regarding the adulteration of Tirupati laddus

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a show cause notice to AR Dairy Food Private Limited, in the wake of reports which claimed that ‘animal fat’ was used in the adulterated ghee used as an ingredient for making Tirupati laddus,

This action comes amid growing concerns regarding the quality of ghee used in the preparation of Laddu Prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala.

The ritual began at 6 am and lasted till 10 am. It was aimed at propitiating Lord Venkateswara Swamy from the alleged sacrilegious practices such as mixing animal fats in making Tirupati laddus (consecrated sweet) and others.

Lucknow: Amid the controversy over the "adulteration" of Tirupati laddus, the famous Mankameshwar temple here has banned offerings of 'prasad' bought by devotees from outside and said they can offer homemade 'prasad' or fruits.

A show-cause notice has been issued to AR Dairy amid ongoing controversy regarding the presence of 'animal fat' in ghee used for the preparation of laddus in the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). T

This step has been in response to the ongoing controversy surrounding the ghee supplied to the renowned Tirupati temple, which, as claimed by the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh, was adulterated with animal fat.

J Shyamala Rao, executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which oversees the temple, said the rituals will “ward off the ill effects and restore the sanctity of laddu prasadams (consecrated food) along with the well-being of Srivari devotees.

The decision to conduct Shanti Homam was taken amid claims of adulterated ghee being used for making the laddu at Sri Venkateswara Temple.

A four-hour cleansing ritual was performed at the Tirumala temple on Monday (23 September) amid the controversy surrounding allegations of animal fat being used in Tirupati laddus when YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was in power.
