Two children were arrested in Decatur overnight after police said they made a pair of threats toward Decatur schools on Wednesday. Officials with the Decatur Police Department said they were made aware of a threat toward Stephen Decatur Middle School around 5:45 p.

Police say an investigation into threats of violence at Macon County schools led to the arrest of two youths, ages 11 and 13, and seizure of multiple firearms at the older child's home.

Decatur police also arrested an 11-year-old for another threat involving an unidentified school. The child was involuntarily admitted to a local hospital. Due to the Illinois Juvenile Court of 1987, the 11-year-old could not be detained and will be petitioned to juvenile court for the charge of Disorderly Conduct-School Threat.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies will continue to provide additional security at all schools when they receive information about threats.
